The Renovation #13: Electrics… Electrics… Electrics

Plasterers enemies are always going to be electricians. I have had my run-ins with them over the years and had a few “moments” on sites when we have disagreed on situations. I use to have a saying…

“Tuck them in or I will fill them in”

However, my now father in law is an electrician by trade, and that explains a lot and to be honest it can be hard work seeing eye to eye but when it comes to electrics, I tend to not have an opinion.

Anyway, I am not going to pretend I understand electrics; I don’t and to be honest when someone starts talking to me about electrics my eyes glaze over and my mind wanders off into the unknown until the subject changes, and then I come back around to normality.

Electrics ripped back to the board

I have already ripped all the electrics back to the board and put pull wires down to the sockets throughout the property and earlier chopped the chases into the walls and run most of the socket back boxes so was trying to make it easy for everyone.

Well, I had my friend come over for a few days who I sue to work with doing bathrooms and renovations when I was on the tools, and he cracked on and got the sockets wired and worked out where everything was, and he also started running all the ethernet cable as well to every single room. Chases were being ground into the walls, and more socket boxes added and generally cables were being run everywhere.

Once the sockets were run my friend returned home, and my father in law came down to run the lighting circuits then it was for 4four days constant questions one why were things done this way, that way, etc etc and all I could answer was I don’t know.

It was a headache to say the least, but we were grateful for the help but I was glad to be back at the flat on my own again and so I can plod on it also wasn’t helped by my father in law being the only person to realise that our Velux window was too big so that did not help the spirits and the moral on the project.

The project is a drain on resources. I am spending every hour either at the property or doing something regarding it and when not there I am busy with the numerous businesses. It’s hard work, and I am burning the candle from both ends. I am now taking a day here and there and just going out on the bike or just tinkering about in the garage just to escape.

On the upside we are getting there… So I am told…
