British Gypsum Conquers Three Peaks Challenge

A team of 13 British Gypsum employees took on the gruelling national Three Peaks Challenge between Friday 27th and Saturday 28th June to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research as well as the construction and property industry’s homeless charity — CRASH.

The journey, which involves walking the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, started at the base of Ben Nevis on Friday evening, where the team began the ascent to the first peak.

The second mountain, Scafell Pike, was reached at dawn on Saturday, with the 22,000ft challenge concluding at the base of Mount Snowdon in the evening, covering a total of more than 480 miles, with 20 miles on foot.

Volunteers offered support throughout the event, driving the team between peaks and providing much needed home-made snacks along the way.

Over £5,000 of the £9,000 target has been raised so far, and Andrew MacGregor, raw materials buyer at British Gypsum, commented: “We battled blisters and tiredness throughout, but it has all been worthwhile to have had such generous donations from all our sponsors.”
